December 2, 2004 - Today is the 20th anniversary of the world's worst chemical disaster. The gas leak at Union Carbide's pesticide factory in Bhopal India killed between 3,000 and 8,000 people (depending on estimates from different sources) immediately from one of the most toxic chemicals known. Tens of thousands have died over the years as a result of this incident, and hundreds of thousands have been injured and maimed. Dying from this gas caused a painful, burning, vomiting, diarrhea death. The BBC has numerous articles and radio stories and a video here. A student wrote a good summary here. A story on the state of the uncleaned site can be found here. Green Peace wrote this article comparing it to the Exxxon oil spill in Alaska. Union Carbide, now owned by Dow Chemical, put up this helpful website. According to Union Carbide, they had no responsibility and this was the deliberate act of a sabateur. November 17, 2004 - While reading the December 2004 issue of Popular Science magazine, I came across an article on DRM that is so amazingly full of crap, that I had to write this g-file about it.

November 13, 2004 - Here is a link to a pdf file of the amazingly laid out and stunningly put together article about my project and myself that appeared in this month's issue of PC Extreme, a UK Computer Magazine. They did a great job of interviewing me, and assembled an article that I really felt captured my feelings, beliefs, and intent with the HaXXXor project. They were kind enough to give me permission to repost it here. Definitely pick up a copy of their magazine if you're in Europe, you should be able to find it in North America in late November, early December. I'll post the names of stores that carry it when I find out which ones do.

October 29, 2004 - Check us out in this month's issue of PC Extreme, a UK Computer Magazine!

October 17, 2004 - Free Programming and Computer Science Books - Go educate yourselves.

October 2, 2004 - In an post on Richard Forno's Infowarrior mailing list, I was saddened to read the following:

St. Louis - Fair use was dealt a harsh blow today in a Federal Court decision that held that programmers are not allowed to create free software designed to work with commercial products. At issue in the case was whether three software programmers who created the BnetD game server -- which interoperates with Blizzard video games online -- were in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and Blizzard Games' end user license agreement (EULA).

I'm very disappointed with Blizzard's stance in this issue. I am a long time fan of Blizzard's games, and they are probably the only games I play on my computer. I've bought and paid for StarCraft, and it's expansions. WarCraft III and it's expansions, which I play on almost a daily basis, and Diablo II. I'm looking forward to there one day being a StarCraft II, and the upcoming World Of WarCraft. On a personal level, I've always encouraged my friends to play Blizzard games with me, and have always made sure that they went out and purchased a copy to support the company that produces the games.

However, if Blizzard is going to go around creating lawsuits that are going to curb our freedoms, I will definitely keep that in mind the next time they release a game. I just might decide that the money might be better spent in a contribution to the EFF, just in case the company that I once wholeheartedly supported, and was grateful to for their games, decides to go out and contribute to the errosion of freedom...

September 2, 2004 - Continuing with the RNC theme, check out the latest Partisan Jab.

September 2, 2004 - After all this seriousness lately, let's look at something more light hearted.

September 2, 2004 - 2600 Editor Emmanuel Goldstein Released form the "Guantanamo on the Hudson." More details coming soon. Glad to hear you're out man. While it probably sucked to be in there, a lot more people have become aware of what's going on in New York during the RNC. Until I heard about you being thrown in "jail" (I suppose jail would be a step up from the oil soaked, outdoor bus station walls with camp x-ray style pens and razor wire), I was unaware of what was going on over there. I hope you get a good night's rest and a warm meal. There's a bunch of people in Arizona who wish you the best.

September 1, 2004 - This is an excerpt from United for Peace and Justice's web page calling for protest tomorrow. In this excerpt, they describe the conditions that they are holding the detainees, said by some to be as many as 1,000:

At 15th Street on the West Side Highway, the City of New York has set up a temporary detention center on Pier 57 for people arrested during the RNC protests. The building was formerly a garage for buses, and the conditions are appalling: the large holding pens are made of chain link fence with razor wire on top; each pen has only two portable toilets and very few benches; most people have to sleep on the floor; arrestees have gone for many hours without access to food, water, phones, or lawyers.

These are the conditions at Pier 57, described by UFPJ as the "Guantanamo on the Hudson," where New Yorkers are being held right now because they wish to express their point of view and participate in the political process... as well as anyone unlucky enough be be anywhere near them.

September 1, 2004 - 2600 Magazine Editor Emmanuel Goldstein among 900+ arrested in Anti-RNC Protests. This sort of bullshit getstapo tactics really piss me off. People have a right to be heard, and this goes double for anything to do with the American political process. Usually the cops will round up people and keep them locked up just to keep them "quiet" until after the convention is over. However, if you read the article, he was simply filming what was going on, which is more than legitimate since he is a magazine publisher and a film maker, i.e. a legitimate member of the media. According to the 2600 website, New York City Indymedia is having continuing coverage of this.

August 24, 2004 - Qwest just sent me their spam... er... monthly news letter. Inside was this helpful tip. Thanks Qwest!

When you access the Web, your machine may be exposed to Internet hackers. One simple way to add security to your system is to simply log offline when you are done surfing for the day. If there's no good reason to hang around online, just disconnect from the network and shut the door on those pesky trespassers.

August 21, 2004 - It's true, I also do things besides pimp out my video, and lament over how much of a pain in the ass running a business can be sometimes. Here is a G-file that I wrote on my recent inspiration to spend more time doing hardware stuff, and some steps that I took to get started. Beginning with a spring and wire electronic playground, and moving up to soldering DC circuits from electronic hobby kits.

August 21, 2004 - The HaXXXor Member's Area is now open for business. Here you can view the videos from the Volume 2 DVD. Click Here to join. Also, once we have 10 members, I'm going to put the videos from the first volume online as well. The overwhelming interest in my project has motivated me to work that much harder to get the word out.

August 21, 2004 - You can now order HaXXXor online. Thanks to visitor feedback, we've taken a look at the YowCow service, and their terms of service support adult products and don't say that you can't say the word "hacking." So hopefull this will be the solution to our payment problems. Click Here to find out how to order HaXXXor DVDs and T-shirts.

August 21, 2004 - We've updated the Mail In Order Form, thanks to a suggestion from one of our longest fans. The Mail In Order Form now reflects both DVDs and the T-Shirts.

August 19, 2004 - Defcon Aftermath Part 2 - A member of the DefCon staff responds to our e-mail... sort of. None of the recipients of our original email responded. However, today on one of their message boards, Chris made a response. We respond to the response, and expect that this will probably be the end of it.
